The Problem

As a historically analog company, GROHE lacked a foundational digital product design language. The absence of a DLS presented a significant challenge, as it was essential for supporting the launch of new digital products and driving the company’s digital transformation.
My Role

As the project lead, I guided a core team of four designers in building the Digital DLS from the ground up. I was responsible for defining the system's core principles, creating its component library, and ensuring the final product would provide a consistent and coherent user experience.
The Approach

My approach was to create a cohesive system based on three building blocks: Principles, Components, and Patterns. We established foundational principles for information architecture and navigation, built an extensive library of digital assets, and developed patterns for common interactions like data visualization and login pages.
The Solution

The team successfully built a comprehensive Digital DLS, which standardized the user experience across all digital products. We documented everything from typography and icons to layouts and animation, ensuring that every design team could deliver consistent and accessible results.
The Outcome

The Digital DLS touched every part of GROHE's digital product space, providing a consistent user experience and serving as the global design standard for all LIXIL teams worldwide. The project enabled GROHE to successfully launch its new digital products and accelerate its digital transformation
