Smart Walls | May 2015

Imagine no buttons or screens. Imagine no scrolling or swiping. Imagine no passwords or learning curves. What if we could control all our devises with something so simple and immediate as a touch on the wall? The Giotto Smart Walls project investigates the possibility of using conductive material right behind the regular paint on a wall that can receive inputs from hand touch and send them as outputs to different appliances. The Smart Walls will be a intuitive and immediate “short cut” to different appliances and will not replace them entirely. To build a working prototype I used already existing components like conductive paint, aluminum foil tape and microprocessor board. The novelty will be the architecture of putting them together and the Business Model behind it that will unveil great new and unique opportunities for unsuspected user experience, interface and interaction.
